'Zero Waste store' on Singleton campus
The Student's Union are planning to bring a unique service to Singleton Campus, being one that focuses on environmentally friendly products, aiming to raise awareness of our impact on the planet, across the institution.
An alternative way to shop!
Offering an alternative way of shopping, this proposed space concept will incorporate a different range of services and products including:
A bring your own sustainable store/station - BYO
Customers will be able to bring their own bottles, jars, bags and other containers and purchase just the amount they need, being charged by the weight of the product. This will reduce packaging and food waste and promote a reduction in the unnecessary use of plastic.
What will be available to purchase?
• Hand wash
Natural and 100% Environmentally friendly products
The store aims to stock eco-lifestyle and sustainable products that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
Vintage and Eco-friendly Clothing
A section of the store would include vintage clothing. As well as this, a range of eco-friendly clothing will be sourced from brands such as Recover, who produce clothing that is made entirely out of recycled material.
Pop up Catering
Occasional food pop-ups showcasing a variety of natural and healthy foods not available elsewhere on campus.
Where will the money go?
Monies raised will go towards the cost of purchasing the necessary equipment for the store as well as its branding and fit-out cost.
The main cost is the purchase of the specialised weighing scales which cost £2,000. These are essential!
