Long-serving and esteemed engineering lecturer Dr Timothy Davies is fast approaching the end of his time with us at Swansea University. For almost forty years Tim has been a colourful character in Electrical Engineering, a clear favourite among students and well-regarded throughout the university.
In memory of his time with us we are collecting funds to create The Timothy Davies Prize – a prize to be awarded to the best second year group project in EEE. This project to build autonomous robots is assessed in our highly successful annual residential Micromouse competition, which Tim created. As his partner Sue said, creating a prize to benefit students after he retires would give him far greater joy than any retirement present we could buy for him.
The amount and duration of the prize is subject to funding. If we raise £300 then we would expect to award one £100 prize for three years. Higher donations may increase the amount or duration of the prize. All money will be held by Swansea University and administered as a standard student prize, awards decided by the Electronic and Electrical Engineering Board of Studies, within the College of Engineering.
donations and rewards
We will add every named donation to a card to be presented to Tim when he retires, along with any comments you add. Please share your memories of learning with, or teaching alongside Tim.
We're extremely grateful for any amount you can donate. However, why not check out our rewards on the right!
Help us succeed! Please share the page with anyone you think might be able to donate. Remember though, we are attempting to keep this a secret from Tim, so avoid distribution lists he's on.
